Ahhh, Wisconsin. One minute you're soaking up every last ray of summer sunshine, the next you’re pulling out flannels and boots like bam, it’s pumpkin spice season.
While you're transitioning your wardrobe, don’t forget—your hair extensions need a seasonal switch-up too!
Let’s chat about how to keep your extensions looking fresh, fabulous, and frizz-free as we head into crisp fall days.
1. Hydration Station, Please
Summer may have been all about lake days and sunshine, but fall? She's dry. Like, skin-cracking, static-shocking dry. Your extensions don’t get natural oils from your scalp, so you have to keep them hydrated.
Swap your lightweight summer products for richer, moisturizing shampoos and conditioners.
And yes, that means sulfate-free and extension-safe only, babe.
2. Brushing extensions is Not Optional
With cooler air comes static, tangles, and that whole scarf-snag situation. Brush your extensions morning and night with a loop brush or wide-tooth comb—gently. Like you’re brushing a cloud. Start at the ends and work your way up to avoid pulling and damaging the bonds or wefts.
3. Dial Down the Heat
We all love a good curling iron moment, but too much heat in already dry air = crispy ends (and not the cute kind). If you’re using hot tools, always use a heat protectant.
4. Watch That Hat Hair
Fall is hat season—beanies, fedoras, you name it. But wearing hats too often can put pressure on your extension bonds or tapes. Just make sure your extensions are fully dry before popping on a hat, and try not to sleep in them (your hat, not the extensions—those should definitely stay in).
5. Book That Maintenance Appointment
Let’s be real. The seasonal shift is the perfect excuse to get in your stylist’s chair. Fall is all about refresh and repair. A quick trim, re-tightening, and some TLC will have your extensions prepped for all the hayrides and bonfires your heart desires.
Bottom line: Your extensions deserve love year-round, and Wisconsin’s wild weather makes it extra important to pivot your hair care game as the seasons change. Treat them like your favorite fall sweater—soft, cozy, and handled with care.
